It was strange. Ever since Regan came back, Isaac had been coming home for dinner on time every day. On the surface, he seemed to be doing his part, but who knew what was really on his mind.

Regan lowered her head. “Forget it, Father. He didn’t mean it.”

Isaac’s temper flared unusually strong that day. “Do you really think I’ve reached the point where I can’t even decide what to eat or drink for myself?”
