Callie turned her head sharply, ready to curse, but Nelson had already anticipated her move. Tilting his face slightly, her soft lips landed on his cheek.
She froze, her entire body stiffening. The spot where they touched grew warm, almost unbearably so. By the time she regained her senses and tried to pull away, Nelson was quicker. His hand reached up, firmly cupping the back of her head, and this time, his lips found hers with precision.
There was no space between them, only tight, unyielding contact.
Callie’s heart stopped. Her eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, she forgot to struggle—or perhaps, her will to resist wasn’t as strong as she thought.
Nelson noticed. His grip wasn’t forceful, yet she didn’t pull away. As their kiss deepened, his breath grew heavier, and his large hand found its way to her waist.
“Nelson…” she finally murmured, her voice soft, almost like a kitten’s meow.
