Nelson chuckled softly and held her tightly, "Let's go home."
Callie hadn't drunk any alcohol, but Nelson had, and quite a lot.
As they neared their destination, Nelson signaled the driver to stop, "Walk with me."
She was wearing high heels today, so the man found a pair of flat shoes from the car for her to change into and led her out.
It was eleven o'clock, and the moon hung high in the sky.
The moonlight was bright, casting a thin layer of frost-like light on the road. Their shadows, holding hands, stretched long and winding.
The discomfort in his chest from drinking was blown away by the wind. There were no noisy traffic sounds or the rush of handling matters, just peace and tranquility.
