Chapter 21
The friend hurried off, leaving Tracy sitting there alone.
Matthew casually took the seat on her left. Sebastian stared at the empty chair on her other side for a moment, hesitated, then sat down anyway.
Propping his head on one hand, Matthew looked amused, like he was watching a show. "If you want to run, you still can."
Tracy paused. "Thanks. I'm good."
She glanced at him. "Why are you so free today? Don't you have any experiments to run?"
Matthew shook his head and casually cleared away the empty plate in front of her. "Mr. Halston and I had a bit of a disagreement in the laboratory, so I brought him over to look for you. I figured your opinion mattered more."
She looked baffled. "What does your argument with him have to do with me?"
Matthew had clearly expected that reaction and explained right away, "Because he touched your stuff. I don't know if it was curiosity or misplaced kindness, but he went and messed up all your equipment. I couldn't stand it, so I said something. N
