#Chapter 64: Morgana

I wasn’t sure if it was carpet or hard wood that I woke up on.
Whatever it was, there was a spider crawling along it toward me. I remained still, other than my easy breath and the blinking of my eyes. Watching it.
Waiting.
It made it all the way to my chest, which was a practically impassible wall for it with me lying on my side.
It lifted its fragile little legs, testing the stability of my shirt. It assessed. Analyzed.
Chose another path.
It crawled on its eight legs up toward my shoulder, checking every now and again if it might be able to pass the human wall. It turned at my armpit, following the contour of my outstretched arm. Slowly, quietly, I extended my fingers from their relaxed state until they were fully spread out, my nail beds pressing into the unidentified flooring.
The spider creeped along, so tiny and vulnerable, it’s exoskeleton nothing compared to the force of the smallest muscle in my body.
It passed my wrist, flexing its spindly little legs
