Chapter 27
The door to Este’s room unlocked and closed faintly, indicating Izaak had already left with no hint of hesitation. Este’s eyes flashed open, and her eyes shimmered with morning tears.
The corners of her lips contained a trace of a sarcastic grin while she sobbed. Her relationship with Izaak was like a shipwreck at the bottom of the sea. There were only two things to do.
Either leave it to ruins or die trying to save it. She was a foolish woman, so she insisted on doing the latter.
“Mom,” she sobbed, “when a relationship is over, men can turn their backs and easily forget, but women can’t. Our boots are stuck in the mud, and we can’t get out. Did he really love me? Why am I the only one hurting?”
Margarita embraced her crying daughter. Seeing Este's tears brought tears to her eyes as well.
“You, silly girl," she told her. "If he doesn’t love you, he wouldn’t come running to you when you need him.”
