"Sorry about Jason's attitude," Henrry rubbed his neck awkwardly as we stood in his fancy kitchen. "That's totally on me."
Across from me, Mason and Henrry sipped their coffee while Jason had stormed off to his bedroom the second Henrry introduced me.
I took the last sip of orange juice and felt Keal's unease.
"Look," I set my empty glass down with a soft clink, "I appreciate the offer, but..."
I searched for diplomatic words. "How exactly am I supposed to help when your brother clearly wants nothing to do with me? He practically ran when you mentioned my name."
The luxury condo was gorgeous—way nicer than anything I could afford on my pathetic savings—but this arrangement seemed doomed from the start.
If Jason kept up his hostile act, I'd just be an unwelcome intruder in someone else's territory, and Henrry would still be worried sick about his brother.
Mason pushed off from the counter, his sharp eyes studying me.
