I frowned at Henrry's unexpected question.
"No, of course not. She's a classmate from university. Female, my age." My voice carried a hint of surprise at his assumption.
Henrry hummed thoughtfully, pausing before speaking again.
His voice carried subtle concern. "Alright then, Silvia. Just... please be careful. And let me know Jason's situation when you're back home tonight. Take care of yourself."
With that, he abruptly ended the call, leaving me staring at my phone with confusion.
The conversation felt rushed, as though he'd been interrupted or was handling something urgent.
I probably caught him at a bad time.
I slipped the phone back into my pocket and returned to Mielle, who sat hunched in the waiting area chair, looking small and vulnerable under the harsh hospital lighting.
"Good news," I said gently, crouching to meet her gaze. "You've got a safe place to stay tonight."
I quickly called a cab, providing the hospital's address.
