Chapter 38

Maverick glanced at her, and with a chilling tone, he said, "Leave the people around me alone." After a while, he added with a warning, "I don't care if it's my grandmother or my sister-in-law you better keep your thoughts to yourself." Giselle was speechless. She responded with a polite smile, all the while keeping her silence. But, Maverick took it as acceptance. He knew that Giselle was a timid person and that she wouldn't defy him. After finishing his cigarette, Maverick threw the butt into the trash can nearby. Then, he turned around and walked back to his car. Giselle stood her ground and watched him leave.  Maverick opened the car door but didn't get in. He looked over at Giselle, who was standing there watching him leave. He frowned and asked, "You coming?" Giselle was very obedient. She obediently got in the car and sat down. Her ever move was based on Maverick ordering her to 'be good'. But Maverick tugged on his collar, still pissed. During the ride, he maintained his cool.
