It's going to cost me an arm and a leg to buy a replacement. I suppose that's what I get for giving Gomez the silent treatment. Bending down, I start to retrieve the broken pieces. "I-- I'm so sorry, Aly. I can't believe I just did that.." He whispers softly. His shiny training boots begin to retreat, and I look up in confusion. Gomez looks horrified, his usually laid-back self nowhere to be found.
"It's alright, silly. I deserved that. I'm sorry for being a brat--"
Gomez shakes his head defiantly, turning on the spot and fleeing the watch-hut in record time. I call his name repeatedly, mystified by his shock exit. He has never been this antsy before.
"Hector!" I bellow, watching him disappear over the hill. A ray of moonlight filters through the leafy canopy of the forest, a welcome sight in contrast to the consistent spring showers.
