The elevator doors slid open with a soft ding. Lily stepped out.
Just as she turned the corner toward her office, her assistant, Mia, came rushing up to her with a nervous expression.
“Ms. Lily,” Mia said, slightly breathless. “There’s a VVIP client waiting in your office.”
Lily frowned. “VVIP? Today? Are you sure?”
Mia nodded quickly. “Yes. She came without an appointment, but… she insisted. I couldn’t stop her.”
Lily slowed her steps. She checked her phone once, flipping through her calendar. There was nothing, no meeting, no hint of such a client. Her brows drew tighter. “Who is it?”
Mia hesitated. “She didn’t say her name. But… she looks… important.”
Lily sighed. Whoever it was, barging into her office without an appointment already said a lot. Her chest tightened as unease crawled through her veins. She squared her shoulders and pushed open the door.
