Chapter 92
OLIVIA’S POV
After James helped me carry my mother to the guest room, I made sure everything was just the way she liked it. The room smelled faintly of lavender—her favorite. I tucked an extra quilt at the foot of the bed and dimmed the lights. James sat beside her, dabbing her forehead with a cool cloth, his eyes full of quiet worry.
“She’ll wake up soon,” he said without looking at me.
I gave him a tight nod, brushing a hand over my mother's fragile fingers once more before stepping out of the room.
“You go and have some rest, I will be here to take care of her,” he said and I did what he asked. I knew that he also needed this time with her. He felt guilty for leaving our parents behind and so do I . I should have known that even being the beta couple of the pack, this pack won’t let them live peacefully.
I took a one last glance at her face and walked out of the room.
The moment the door clicked shut behind me, I let out the breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. The walls felt too
