Late that night, I finally returned to the castle in the Shadowmoon Pack under the brightest moonlight.
I entered my room and was about to get into bed when an arm shot out from the darkness, yanking me into a scorching embrace.
"Who—" I instantly shifted into a fighting stance, claws extending, ready to strike. The man frantically grabbed my wrists: "It's me!"
Moonlight filtered through the window crack, illuminating that familiar face.

Before I could ask his purpose, Toric demanded, "Thalia, you're back so late... were you with Cash..."
"None of your damn business," I cut him off impatiently. "Which law of the Shadowmoon Pack forbids a widow from seeing friends?"

I looked at him with a mocking half-smile. "You are my what? I was unaware brothers now held such power over their brothers' widows."
