Marcus's face gradually darkened. He tried to keep calm and gave his final attempt at "talking sense." "If there's nothing else, you can leave."
"You..." Ethan was fuming, and at the same time, realized something wasn't right.
So, Audrey really was brought into the secretary department by him. As for what tricks she pulled to make that happen, Ethan had no clue. But that part didn't matter. What mattered was that Marcus used to be the kind of guy who would never bow down to someone like Audrey. Basically, unless he wanted to do something, no one could force him.
Ethan decided to try a different angle to squeeze some truth out of him. He tossed the file in his hand onto Marcus's desk and said, "This is what she prepped for me. Can't even look at it—the dates are all messed up."
Marcus didn't even bother to pick it up. He glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and said flatly, "It's only her second day. She's not supposed to be handling that kind of stuff yet."
