"That's final." Marcus shook off her hand without a second thought, his tone making it clear there was no room for debate.
Well, that's it. Total disaster.
Elaine really wanted to just ghost the whole situation and run, but logic screamed at her not to. If she bailed now, how would she even face the fact that her physical self was already dead?
Turning back wasn't an option. Worst case scenario? She'd go down swinging.
So, while Marcus was holed up in the study, she quietly slipped into Oliver's room.
Oliver was lounging on the bed, flipping through a comic book — clearly just killing time. Given his level of... experience, a comic probably didn't do much for him.
He shot her a look that was anything but friendly, not that Elaine cared. They'd been mutually annoyed with each other for ages now.
After locking the door behind her, Elaine stood in front of him, expression dead serious. "Marcus is taking you to see his folks tomorrow to confirm your identity. Got a plan?"
