#Chapter 60 - Morning Caller
[Lucian’s POV]
My eyes cracked open and I was instantly met with the early morning light.
The moment I tried to move a single muscle, I froze. I wasn’t alone.
Pressed up snugly against me was a lithe figure letting out soft, short breaths. I glanced down to find one of the most incredible sights I ever beheld.
It was Violet. Draped in nothing but a blanket, she curled up against my chest. Her features were so soft, giving her a look of innocence and peace that she’d been lacking for so many years.
I wanted nothing more in the world than to be able to hold her like this every single day. But I knew I would be asking for the impossible.
The longer I stared at Violet, the faster I was beginning to feel the dreadful repercussions of last night’s events. My eyes widened as my heart crashed fiercely against my rib cage.
