Chapter 39
LUNETH
Fear explodes in my mind as my feet grow cold and my hands grip the sides of the bed, begging for an escape. I throw my hands in the air, but they catch nothing, and this pushes me further into darkness than I would have wandered on my own. The lingering weight on me suddenly lifts, and I feel like I can breathe again. I am still scared to open my eyes, but I hear grunts. Two people—there is more than one person. Did two people think I was so much of a threat that they both came to kill me? Without a word, they were going to wipe me off the earth? Was it that I was destined to live a sorrowful life and then die? The grunting stops, and I open my eyes slowly to see Drexon standing over a badly beaten, unknown man.
"Oh my goodness," I breathe out as I push myself deeper into the bed, hoping I can go further to hide my embarrassment. I feel sweat and tears trickling down my forehead and eyes at once. I was killed once, but never in this manner; whoever this was wanted to do it once
