Chapter 1481
She was willing to have dinner with him on New Year’s Eve. That meant she wouldn’t be leaving him, right?
“Knock knock!”
Jackson’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of knocking on his door.
“Come in,” said Jackson.
Connor entered the room and greeted him before saying, “Sir, Jenny has escaped from prison!”
Jackson’s expression changed instantly. Sullen-faced, he asked Connor, “What’s going on?”
“I received news from the police that she had escaped from prison around 3 in the morning today. The surveillance system of the detention center where she was held was hacked, so we have no footage from the time she escaped. As of now, we do not know who helped Jenny in her escape,” explained Connor.
Jackson considered the possibilities in silence. Could it be the Hall family? Or was it the Shaw family? Or maybe it was some trained diehard fan? Or perhaps…
“Keep an eye on the Halls and the Shaws, see if anything is happening on their side. Also, continue the search for Walter. We must track him down as soon as possible no matter what,” instructed Jackson.
For every second that Walter remained out there, Jackson would have to face the constant dread that something terrible was going to happen.
Could his disappearance be related to Grandpa? Did Henry… issue further instructions to his secretary before he died?!
Jackson wouldn’t know unless he got his hands on Walter.
As long as Walter was still out there, Jackson would not feel at ease.

New Year’s Eve had arrived, and Serenity finally got to see Jackson again.
This time, he sported a black overcoat, and his hair was slicked back, highlighting his delicate facial features. His tall and upright body exuded an elegant aura, but the scarf and gloves he was wearing stood out from the rest of his outfit.
Serenity immediately recognized them to be the scarf and gloves she had knitted him a year ago. She had reused the fabric from an old sweater to make them.
“What’s the matter? Why are you staring at me?” he asked as he walked up to her.
“N-Nothing, I’m… just surprised that you’re still wearing these,” said Serenity. As he got nearer to her, she couldn’t help but be reminded of the scene when the truth was revealed to her on the stairs the other day.
Serenity bravely fought off these thoughts.
“You knitted them for me, so of course I have to use it,” said Jackson. He then took off his scarf and gloves, and then his overcoat.
Out of instinct, Jackson reached out to touch her, but he realized what he was doing, and his hand froze mid-way. After a moment of hesitation, he retracted his hand and said, “Sit down and get some rest. I’ll go prepare our dinner.”
“You’re preparing our dinner?” Serenity was stunned for a moment.
“I have cooks working on it, but I’ll help them out a little,” said Jackson. Although he could single-handedly whip up their dinner, his skills couldn’t be compared with full-time professional cooks, so he could only assist them with preparing the main course. As for dessert, he would be preparing everything himself.
With a confused expression, Serenity watched as Jackson entered the kitchen, put on an apron, and rolled up his sleeves before joining the team of busy cooks.
At that exact moment, her eyes welled up with tears.
He was a good husband, and in the future, he would be a good father. Hadn’t she known from the beginning?
Serenity sat down on the sofa and relived their memories of the past.
When Jackson finally walked out of the kitchen, he noticed she had already fallen asleep on the sofa, so he automatically covered her with a quilt.
The sofa was spacious enough, so there was no need for him to worry that she might fall off during her nap. Besides, he had already assigned a caregiver to watch over her.
