Chapter 1490
Jackson narrowed his eyes at Walter. "You're telling me that you have no idea she escaped from prison?"
"I have no idea," Walter insisted.
"Fine. You told my men that you'd only talk to me? Well, I'm here now. What do you want to say to me?" Jackson asked.
"Master Zack said, if Serenity Lewis found out the truth after his death but didn't leave you, he wanted to make a bet with you."
"A bet?" Jackson asked.
"Yes, a bet!" Walter said, "Master Zack wanted to see if you would really sacrifice your life for a woman, like your father did."
Jackson's expression darkened, "What do you mean by that?" The old man had already passed away. How could he make a bet with Jackson?
A tiny smile twitched at the corner of Walter's mouth, but he kept quiet. On his bruised and battered face, the smile looked scary.
"I asked you what you mean by that!" Jackson growled, his indifferent and cold eyes turning sharp.
"You'll know when the time comes," Walter said, "Master Zack wanted you to learn from your father's mistake. If you love a woman so much that you're willing to die for her, you'll never have a happy ending."
"That's none of your business!" Jackson stepped forward and grabbed Walter's collar. "What did the old man tell you to do? You better spill it or I'm gonna make you suffer."
But Walter seemed unperturbed. "I had nothing when Master Zack found me. He saved my life. Now that he's dead, of course I have to carry out his dying wish. I've already said all that needs to be said, so I will say no more. You'll know when the time comes."
Jackson's lips tightened. He naturally knew how loyal Walter was to his grandfather.
What exactly did the old man tell Walter to do?
A bet?
Even after his death, Grandpa wanted to make a bet with him to see if he would really sacrifice his life for a woman? How would he do that?
Regardless, the woman could only be... Serenity!
Serenity? Jackson shuddered. He immediately took out his phone and called Serenity.
No one answered the phone.
Jackson's expression darkened. Connor, who was standing next to him, noticed his anxiety, so he asked, "Mr. Valor..."
"Contact the people in the mansion immediately and ask them to check on Serenity. Also, reinforce the security outside the bedroom," Jackson ordered.
"Yes, sir!" Connor quickly answered.
He called the person in charge of security over at the mansion and passed down the instructions.
However, Connor's face soon turned pale. He told Jackson in panic, "This is bad, Mr. Valor! Madam is nowhere to be found!"
"What?!" Jackson grabbed the phone in Connor's hand and asked the person on the other end, "What happened?! Where's Serenity?! She's not in the mansion?!"
