CADELL
“You’re safe,” I said, slowly lowering Evolet into bed. Her hand gripped my shirt tightly, refusing to let go. “Cadell,” she whispered my name softly, lost somewhere in her dream.
I stared at her as I carefully took her hand off me, placing it right on her chest. “I’m still here. Your Cadell will never leave you,” I said, caressing her cheek with a smile.
She felt my touch. I could tell from the way her lips curved into a smile, snuggling her face right in my palm.
But when I recalled the whole scenario that took place this night, I felt upset.
“This is exactly what I was avoiding. You aren’t safe in this place,” I groaned, carefully pulling my hand away and distancing myself from Evolet.
I knew something was wrong when she didn’t return back to the arena. Trent noticed my worry and felt I should check up on Evolet. But before I could leave the seat, I heard her cry through her necklace.
She called out to me, pleading to the Goddess to send me to her rescue!
