Alas, Laura wasn't moved in the slightest. Her indifference made her seem heartless. She ignored Clarence completely, yet, before his very eyes, she smiled and chatted warmly with others. It wasn't that she didn't have a heart; it was just that she simply no longer had one for him. Clarence knew perfectly well that Laura and Michelle were nothing alike. Michelle could flirt and toy with several men at once. Laura, however, wasn't like that. She was the proud moon in the night sky, and her light wasn't something just anyone could claim for themselves.
