Chapter 291
...Most probably not. After all, she had been fine and dandy for over twenty years now! Zivon’s condescending and cruel attitude only served to make her more certain of her final choice as she said, “I’ll do it.”
“Slow down, Miss Lockhart, there’s really no rush. You should go back and properly understand your blood type first. You can give me your answer after thinking about it for a day. Here’s my business card,” replied the doctor as he handed her a card before turning around to leave…
Looking at the white card, Xavia read the clearly-printed words, ‘Matthew Rudner, Medical professor.’ A pleasant name for a pleasant person… Whatever the case was, her answer was most probably going to be the same regardless of when she gave it.
Her train of thought was cut short when Mrs. Lockhart’s voice suddenly asked, “What did the doctor say to you about the treatment plan, Xavia?”
Turning to look at her mother—who was eagerly making her way toward her—, Xavia couldn’t help but feel a pang of cynicism. What kind of irresponsible mother wouldn’t even know about her daughter’s blood type?! Then again, there was a silver lining to this. At the very least, her mother wouldn’t try to do anything with her precious blood…
Whatever the case was, Xavia simply replied, “He just needs something from my body. With that said, if you want me to save Jenna, then don’t piss me off any further.”
Following that, Xavia turned to leave. Since the Lockharts didn’t welcome her, there was no reason for her to stay any longer.
As for Mrs. Lockhart, all she could do was stare at her daughter's back in fury. While it was true that Xavia was also her daughter, Jenna was much more well-behaved and sensible! With that in mind, she was honestly glad that she ended up dumping Xavia back then…!
Regardless, just as Xavia was leaving the villa, her phone began ringing. Fishing it out, she was surprised to see that Stefan was the one calling. Wondering what this was about—since Stefan was apparently free enough to call her twice—, Xavia then asked, “Stefan? Are you not working today…?”
In response, the man’s gentle voice replied, “Indeed. I just miss you a bit too much. I wonder if you share the sentiment?”
If this conversation had taken place in the past, Xavia wouldn’t have been able to say anything intimate to him. However, she really missed him now. She missed his warm, gentle eyes, his unconditional trust, and all the affection and pampering he used to give her…
With that, she pursed her lips before muttering, “…I… I miss you too…”
“I’m glad. Now turn around so we can meet.”
…Huh? Meet? Was this some kind of joke…?
Turning around in disbelief, Xavia’s eyes widened when she saw his slender and gentle-looking figure standing beneath a tall sycamore tree, his gaze warm and gentle, just as she remembered… Even his smile was enough to melt the coldest of winters…
Feeling her eyes water, the overjoyed Xavia immediately began running toward him like an excited child as she yelled, “Stefan! W-what are you doing here…? And why didn’t you tell me that you were coming over…?”
Realizing that she had lost quite a bit of weight—as he hugged her—, Stefan simply replied, “I felt worried, so I came over to check on you. Speaking of which, you’re lighter than I remembered…”
Now comfortably in his warm arms and within range of smelling his nice breath, Xavia—who wasn’t embarrassed to remain in his embrace—slowly said, “You’re… imagining things… I’ve been eating, dressing, and sleeping well throughout my absence… Also, I’m pretty sure my weight is the same as before…”
Upon hearing that, Stefan’s expression fell slightly. Gently pushing her away from him as he looked right into her eyes, Stefan then replied, “How long do you plan on lying to me…? Isn’t it high time you told me about all that’s happened…?”
