Chapter 296
Zivon strode over to them, his long and slender legs shuffling.
Stefan had already taken Xavia into the villa, and only Mrs. Lockhart was still in a daze as she stood still in place in front of the entrance.
When she saw Zivon, she grabbed him and pulled him aside as if he was the only person she could now rely on.
“Zivon, you’re finally here. Xavia brought Stefan Talton here, and the main point is that Stefan Talton is her boyfriend. She said that she had something to tell us. I wonder what she is up to.
“Sigh. I should have known that something was not right when she cursed at you yesterday. I did not expect her to be so courageous because she has someone like Stefan Talton, who has such a powerful background to back her up.”
Mrs. Lockhart had very complicated emotions as she spoke, and she was chagrined.
On the one hand, she was shocked that Xavia had a boyfriend as good as Stefan.
On the other hand, she felt that she had missed the opportunity to get into Stefan’s good books because of how she was treating Xavia before.
Zivon’s attention was focused on the latter part of her sentence. He raised his brows and asked, “She cursed at me yesterday?”
Mrs. Lockhart hummed affirmatively and nodded.
“That’s right. She started cursing at you and said that you were a b*stard as soon as she came in. She even sat by Jenna’s bedside to complain about you. She said that you are the worst b*stard and scum and the least gentlemanly person that she had ever met in her life. She said that she cannot stand you at all.”
The successive words made Zivon’s face flushed red, and the veins on his forehead bulged immediately.
B*stard?
The worst b*stard and scum, and the least gentlemanly person?
How dare she curse at him like that behind his back?
Mrs. Lockhart did not know that Zivon was angry, and she could only feel a gust of cold wind blowing. The cold wind blew at her, and she felt painful chills in her bones. She shrank and asked worriedly, “Zivon, what should we do? You don’t think that she is up to something with Stefan Talton, right?”
Zivon collected his thoughts, his voice incomparably stern and cold.
“What are you afraid of? I want to see what she is capable of.”
As soon as he said that, he walked dignifiedly into the house.
The aura on him was difficult to be ignored, and it was accompanied by the dominance that came with his body.
In the living room.
Xavia had just sat down on the sofa when she saw Zivon walking in.
He was wearing a black suit, shirt, and black leather shoes, and he looked like a demon from hell. It was very gloomy and terrifying.
Inexplicably, Xavia felt afraid as soon as she saw him, and she subconsciously clenched her fists.
Stefan held her tiny hand to give her strength, peace, and reassurance. After that, he said to everyone, “I have to catch a flight back to S City at noon. We are running short on time, and we do not need to be so courteous since we are not outsiders anyway. The reason why we came here today is mainly to talk about the matter related to Xavia and Jenna.”
His warm and gentle words carried a gentlemanly aura that was somewhat commanding.
Mrs. Lockhart naturally did not dare to mistreat Stefan, nor would she display her usual attitude toward Xavia in front of outsiders. So, she instructed Daphne to make tea as she smiled and said, “Chairman Talton, Jenna’s matter was an accident, and we only asked Xavia to pretend to be Jenna for the time being because we had no other choice. You should know, as a wealthy and reputable family; these things are completely out of our hands.”
Stefan said, “You have your reasons for doing so, but I have the right to protect my girlfriend. I do not want her to be replacing another woman to act as another man’s wife.
“Zivon, we are friends, and you should understand that you should not be coveting your friend’s wife. I believe that you will understand, and you will not make things difficult for me too.”
It was a rhetorical question, and he had asked it in a friendly manner, but it was tricky.
He implied that the fact that Zivon was asking Xavia to play the role of his wife was equivalent to bullying his friend’s wife, and it was immoral and unethical.
Zivon stared deeply at the quiet and pure Xavia, who was sitting obediently next to Stefan.
She did not express her opinions nor refute Stefan’s words. In fact, she was acquiescing to it.
It seemed that she was ready to leave the villa, and she would not be staying by his side anymore.
He sneered. “Stefan, you’re overthinking it. I am not interested in her. She would not even be qualified to stay by me if it weren’t because of various reasons.”
Indifference, despise, dislike.
Every word described the disgust that he felt for her.
