"And then?" Cassandra murmured under her breath, then added, "Well, that's pretty much it."
Knowing Damien, even if she said thanks wasn't necessary, he'd never give her a real chance to say no. The guy was just that pushy.
"You just got to the capital. Bet you haven’t had dinner yet," Damien said calmly, though his tone left no room for doubt.
"Yeah, I haven’t. But I already told the university we’d take care of dinner ourselves. And I told Grandpa we’d go out after his nap—me, him, and Dad. It’s been a long day, so after dinner I’m taking a shower and crashing." She reeled it all off quickly, like she was trying to cut off any invitation he might throw her way.
She made it very clear—schedule’s packed.
