The text message was short: “Come to the main gate of Lexford University.” Attached was a compromising photo of her.
Cassandra went ice-cold. She was sure—one hundred percent—that she’d never taken a photo like that. But it looked so real, so convincing, that it was impossible to tell it was fake. She knew exactly who had edited it.
Still, she couldn’t stop the chill that crawled up her spine. What the hell was that guy up to this time?
“Cass, what’s wrong?” Emma looked at her, worried. Cassandra’s face had gone pale.
“I’m fine, just need to step out for a bit,” Cassandra said with a faint smile, trying to reassure her, then stood up and left the library.
Emma watched her leave, paused for a moment, then followed after her.
