But before she could say a word, Lucas spoke in an eerily calm, detached tone.
“She used me as the prototype for her comic. That’s a violation of portrait rights. I’m formally requesting she delete all drafts and cease the infringement.”
Lucas wasn’t Bryan. He was an adult, and John wouldn’t meddle in his personal affairs. He simply stood by, waiting.
Seeing that John had no intention of intervening, Emma’s heart broke a little. Still clinging to hope, she pulled out her tablet with agonizing reluctance. Her face was full of sorrow as she took one final, lingering look at the drawing she’d spent days perfecting.
John didn’t look deliberately—but with his height and proximity, he couldn’t help catching a glimpse.
