Chapter 30

Aidan got up from where he was seated - he had a serious expression on his face as he slid a hand into his pocket. He paced up and down by the window as he asked in a low voice, “So, who was it?” “It was Bryan who’d got his men to do it.” Aidan’s eyes widened in fury as he seethed, “You’d better get that bastard here this instant.” “Yes, Second Young Master.” After hanging up the phone, Aidan was so mad and infuriated that he could no longer focus on work - and so, he stormed right out of his study and slammed the door behind him. … Eliana had been quietly sitting by the window and peacefully watching the sunset when the door to her room suddenly swung open to reveal an enraged Aidan - he lurched forward and roughly grabbed her arm before pulling her down from where she was seated. Eliana looked up and instantly noticed the rage in Aidan’s eyes - she didn’t know what had happened for him to be so aggravated and furious. Alas, she knew well that the latter would always be able to find reasons to come back to haunt and torment her. He’s always going to find some sort of reason to take his anger out on me regardless of whether I deserve it or not… Soon enough, Eliana found herself being dragged out of the room by Aidan - the latter was walking so fast that the former stumbled slightly. Instead of slowing down, however, the latter showed no mercy and continued to drag her forward. Eliana soon realized that Aidan was taking her to the basement - gagging internally at the rat that Laura had thrown at her on that day, she couldn’t help but shiver slightly as she begged, “Aidan, please, don’t do this to me…” Before she could even say anything else, however, Aidan glared at her and cut her off, “You’d better shut up this instant.” Even though Eliana should’ve grown used to Aidan’s cold and unforgiving eyes a long time ago, the former couldn’t help but still feel a shiver run down her spine at just how menacing and threatening the latter looked. Eliana soon found herself being shoved into the basement, where Robert, two bodyguards, and, to both her dismay and surprise, her brother Bryan was - her brother was completely bloody and sprawled across the floor. He looked lifeless - as though he’d been brutally beaten to death. Aidan shoved Eliana so hard that she fell in front of Bryan - the latter slowly looked up and gasped upon realizing the state that her brother was in - she sobbed, “B...Bryan? Brother? Bryan, p-please...wake up, wake up!” Bryan struggled to open his eyes as he choked out, “E...Ellie...please, save me, save me…” Before he could say anything else, the former gasped slightly before passing out again. Just then, Aidan lunged forward to grab Eliana roughly by her short and choppy hair - the latter cried out, “Aidan, why are you doing this to my brother?” “Why am I doing this to your brother?” Aidan snorted, “Eliana, don’t pretend that you’re completely innocent and know nothing about what he’d done - you’re really shameless and such an Oscar-worthy actress, huh?” Eliana didn’t understand what was going on at all - she was utterly lost and confused why everything that was happening was happening. Just then, she found herself being forcefully pressed against the wall by Aidan - he had a murderous intent in his eyes as he growled lowly, “You’re so confident that I won’t kill you, hmm?” Eliana tried her best to calm down as she attempted to reason with Aidan, “Aidan, please, I understand that you’re really mad now but I really have no clue as to what’s going on - will you please fill me in?” “How are you still pretending at such a point in time?” Aidan scowled in disbelief, “Very well - since you like playing pretend so much, I want to see how long you can play before you finally decide to keep your mouth shut and know your place.” Aidan then threw Eliana onto the ground so hard that she lost her balance and crumbled onto the floor - just as Robert tried to help her up, Aidan ordered, “No, don’t you dare help her up - I want her to kneel while she listens to what I have to say.” When Eliana looked up at Aidan in confusion, the latter perceived as her trying to challenge him - he scorned, “What is it? Are you so stubborn and arrogant and full of yourself that you don’t want to kneel? You don’t want me to do anything to your brother now, do you?” Even though Robert was worried about what Aidan might do to Eliana in the crazed state that he was currently in, there was nothing that he could do but to watch on and hope that the latter would not act rashly. Aidan squatted down and said sharply to Eliana, “Miss Harvey, are you aware that your dear brother, Mr. Harvey, had orchestrated the car accident that the alternative liver donor had recently gotten into, such that she wouldn’t be able to donate her liver to Miss Collins?” Eliana was shocked by this revelation - “What? How could this be possible? Why would Bryan ever do such a thing?” she wondered aloud. Just then, Robert switched on Bryan’s mobile phone and handed it to Eliana - he informed her, “Mr. Harvey said that you, Miss Harvey, were the one who’d ordered the orchestration...and he’d even provided us with evidence…”
