Chapter 70

“Eddie, I won’t die, nor do I want to die,” Ellie smiled faintly as she reassured her brother, “I only said those words to frighten Aidan. I just wanted...I just wanted him to be nice to be for once. Why would I want to die? I don’t have any reason to die now, do I?” Eliana took Eddie into her arms as she whispered into his ear, “Eddie, don’t you worry - I won’t be going anywhere as long as you and Dad are still here.” Even though Aidan knew that Eddie was Eliana’s younger brother, he couldn’t help but feel disgusted when she hugged him - he thought that she was good at nothing but seducing and throwing herself at other men. As such, Aidan couldn’t help but surge forward and pull Eliana towards him by her collar. “What are trying to do? Stop, I won’t let you hurt my sister!” Eddie exclaimed. Just as he was about to pull Eliana back, however, Aidan pushed him aside such that he fell back onto the ground. “Eddie, oh, Eddie - what made you think that you’re my match?” Aidan scowled, “Don’t you realize just how light you weigh? What makes you think that you can fight me just like that? You know, if I wanted to kill your sister, she wouldn’t even be here in the first place.” “How dare you…” “Where’s your father?” Aidan suddenly demanded. Eddie snorted and turned away, “Don’t think that I’ll tell you.” Aidan looked at Robert and drawled, “So be it - Robert, I want you to have someone take him back and lock him up.” “No, you can’t do that!” Eliana bawled as she gripped her brother by his hand so tightly that it was as though she was clinging onto a lifeline - she didn’t know what Aidan would do this time since Eddie had already escaped once. “Aidan, please, I beg you,” Eliana pleaded, “Don’t lock Eddie up - he had nothing to do with the plan. It was me - I was the one who’d created the plan. Aidan, please, don’t lock him up.” “Why are you begging me now?” Aidan scoffed, “Weren’t you acting all high and mighty just a moment ago?” Eliana shook her head as she continued to beg, “Aidan, please, I was wrong - please, let Eddie go. He’s still young and has his whole life ahead of him. He’s innocent…” “Ellie, please don’t beg him,” Eddie pleaded, “I don’t care as long as you’re alright - there’s no need for you to worry.” Before he was taken out of the room, Eddie added, “Take care of yourself, alright? Don’t worry - the three of us will be reunited one day.” Eliana looked on helplessly as her brother was taken away - she wailed in agony as she crumbled onto the ground once again, her face full of despair and hopelessness. Aidan scorned at this before walking over to grip Eliana by the chin such that she was forced to look up at him, “You know, I really like this...seeing you detest me to the core, yet at the same time, being completely helpless and powerless...Eliana, oh, Eliana, quit acting all high and mighty - I’ll make sure that you pay should you try and drag Laura down ever again.” When Eliana refused to say anything in reply, Aidan tightened his grip on her chin and growled at her, “Answer me this instant.” Eliana closed her eyes in agony as she clenched her fists - knowing that there was nothing that she could use against Aidan now, she relented, “Yes, I understand.” Aidan couldn’t help but feel frustrated by how stubborn and arrogant Eliana was - did she really think that she could stay this way just because she was once rich and prominent? Why couldn’t she just be submissive and adhering for once? Aidan was determined to destroy Eliana’s resolve and transform her for good. When Aidan finally let go of Eliana, he turned to one of his bodyguards and ordered, “I want you to keep searching - I better see Richard here in three days.” Eliana clenched her fists at this - alas, she knew that there was nothing that she could do or say to try and save the situation. She knew that her father wouldn’t be able to leave now that Eddie had been caught. … Sure enough, Richard turned up at the hospital on his own accord the next day and requested to see Aidan - it’d only been a few days since they’d last seen each other. Richard grinned as soon as he saw Aidan, “Aidan,” he smiled, “I’m glad that you’re here. Please - talk to me.”
