Chapter 88

“I did find some things - however, I don’t have any proof,” Travis furrowed his brows, “Even if I did, it’s not like Aidan would hear me out - he’s too arrogant and indignant.” “I’m sure that Second Young Master will let Miss Harvey go as long as we can gather evidence to prove her innocence. Robert replied confidently. Travis contemplated this for a while before he spoke up, “Robert, can you do me a favour?” Robert nodded, “What is it, Master Witton?” “Would you be able to detain the nanny who’d followed Eliana and Evan yesterday and send her to my house?” Travis asked, “I want you to do this secretly - don’t let anyone in Blanchard Garden know about this matter, especially Laura.” “Yes, I’ll be able to do that,” Robert nodded, “Thank you, Master Witton.” … There was a knock on the door to Aidan’s study. Aidan, who’d calmed down by now, did not respond and remained where he was seated. Just then, the door was pushed open slightly - Aidan looked over to see that it was a distraught and disheveled-looking Laura. Her eyes were rimmed red and her face was ghostly pale. “Aidan...are you alright?” she asked quietly/ “What do you want?” Aidan replied. Laura bit her lip and gulped before she choked out, “I’m...I’m here to say goodbye.” “Goodbye?” Aidan frowned, “Where are you going?” Laura’s bottom lip wobbled before she couldn’t hold it any longer and started to bawl, “This whole place reminds me of Evan,” she sobbed, “After all, I’d raised him lovingly and tenderly for the past two years - oh Aidan, I loved him so, so much.” She shook her head vigorously as she buried her face in her palms and started to cry hard into them. “I don’t know why I’d trusted Ellie enough to leave Evan with her,” Laura croaked, “I shouldn’t have done that...it’s all my fault…” Aidan sighed as he closed his eyes in agony, “Please, don’t say that...it’s my fault.” “No, Aidan, it wasn’t your fault,” Laura insisted, “It was Ellie - I hate her with all of my heart. I hate her so much - I refuse to continue living under the same roof as her...as much as I want to forgive her, it’s just so hard for me to...I...I want to leave.” “You’re not the one who should be going,” Aidan replied, “It’s Eliana who should go.” Laura looked up at Aidan with tears in her eyes, “What? You want to chase Ellie out?” she gasped, “But...but where would she go then?” “She’ll go somewhere where she can reflect on herself and atone for her sins.” Aidan gritted out. Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Second Young Master, it’s me.” Robert informed. “Come in,” Aidan replied coldly. “Robert, I want you to take Eliana to the Wonderland Clubhouse where she’s to work as a cleaner.” Laura froze at this, “Aidan…” she trailed off. “Didn’t you say that you hated her to the core?” Aidan retorted, “You shouldn’t take pity on and sympathize with someone who’d done you so much wrong.” Aidan was certain that he couldn’t go easy on Eliana - he’d overestimated himself when he thought that he could change her. While Laura appeared to be shocked and devastated by her cousin’s impending predicament, she was, in actuality, on cloud nine on the inside… The Wonderland Clubhouse was one of the most famous clubs in Mallstrick City - the number of female guests often outnumbered that of the male guests. Since Eliana had offended so many people now, she could possibly be worked to death if she were to end up as a cleaner working in that place. Laura couldn’t help but smirk internally and give herself a pat on the back for killing Evan. All she had to do now was to wait to become Aidan’s wife as soon as Eliana has been sent away. “Robert, I want you to get Eddie back to work as well,” Aidan commanded, “I want Eliana to see with her very own eyes just how badly he’d been tortured because of her...I want to give her a taste of her own medicine!”
