Vivian Grant wasn’t even surprised. Not one bit. It was like, deep down, part of her always knew he’d reach out sooner or later—like it was bound to happen.
Weird feeling, honestly.
So she paused for a second, then asked, “Mr. Drake, what’s up?”
“Just a small favor, Miss Grant,” Samuel said gently. His voice was smooth and steady, that kind of comforting maturity that sort of draws you in without realizing.
“Go ahead, Mr. Drake,” Vivian replied, guarded as ever. She wasn’t about to agree straight off. Not until she knew what exactly he wanted that warranted a personal call.
Could this have anything to do with Grace Drake and that whole jumping-into-the-ocean mess?
“I was hoping you could come abroad to help a close friend of mine with treatment,” he said.
Vivian’s lips twitched. Did people just assume she was some saintly miracle worker?
Sorry, but no. She wasn’t a doctor, and all that “healing hands of compassion” stuff? Not her thing.
