But then, Vincent Reeves seemed to think of something, and his gaze relaxed, even tugging up into a slight smile.
Vivian Grant, of course, had a sharp ear for sounds. Though blindfolded, she moved through the crowd without missing a beat. Except for the howling wind and faint crashing of waves, all she could make out were the footsteps of the group she was in.
She figured this had to be a stand-alone island.
A private one owned by the Drakes.
And that... was bad news.
A faint heaviness settled in her chest.
Still, she didn’t have time right now to dwell on how to get her parents out.
First, she needed to see them—prove they were actually here.
About ten minutes later, the blindfold was finally removed.
She squinted slightly, waited for her eyes to adjust, and took in her surroundings.
It looked like some sort of research lab—everything was stark white, cameras mounted everywhere, each door a heavy, fire-resistant, bulletproof steel slab.
There weren’t many guards around.
