Sarah Knight blinked and nodded, her voice low. “Yeah, it’s her. Are you saying you won’t help her?”
A wave of unease crept over her. If Samuel Jenkins refused to help now, at such a critical moment, she truly had no idea who else could save Grace Hill.
“It’s not that,” Samuel shook his head, clearly catching her panic. “You misunderstood me.”
“She’s my student. Of course I won’t just stand by and watch.”

“If my apprentice’s in trouble, I’ll do what I have to do. Let me grab my stuff real quick.”
Worried about Grace’s condition, Samuel quickly headed back to pack.
