James Carter’s hand went straight for the kiss mark on Summer Knight’s collarbone—clearly left by Alexander Barron—and pressed down without mercy.
The mark, already noticeable, darkened further under his touch, standing out even more.
Summer winced in pain, her eyes instantly welling up, giving her that pitiful look that once might have swayed him.

He remained cold, unmoved.

“Not a chance,” he shot back coldly.
A flicker of pain crossed James’s usually gentle face. “You used to love oven baked ribs. I made them just for you. Why won’t you even try them?”
