Alexander tightened his arms around Sarah, then suddenly picked her up gently, murmuring soft words to soothe her.
"Sarah, it’s over now. Don’t let him upset you anymore. He really wasn’t worth it."
She sniffled and quickly blinked away the tears gathering in her eyes.
"I know... I just feel weird inside. Let me lean on you for a bit, okay?"
"Let’s head back to the room first," Alexander said, leading her slowly toward the private lounge.
Inside, the room was still lively—people chatting, drinks clinking, all full of cheer.
But Alexander didn’t bring Sarah back into the party. Instead, he settled her down quietly outside, made sure she was okay, then returned alone.
Grace noticed Sarah was missing and asked, puzzled, "Where’s Sarah? Why didn’t she come back?"
"She’s not feeling great. I’m thinking of taking her home to rest. We’ll call it a night," Alexander explained, already prepared to wrap things up.
