Chapter 17
Skye was still on edge, pacing nervously but not lashing out anymore. It clearly knew it'd messed up-its head hung low, those big, watery eyes constantly sneaking glances at Sabrina.
"Mrs. Bennett! That thing doesn't recognize people, don't get close!" a few workers shouted, trying to rush over to stop her.
Cassian raised a hand slightly, silencing them instantly. They stood stiff, watching Sabrina nervously-not so much worried about her, but if something happened to Cassian, they'd probably be jobless before the day was over.
Still, something didn't quite add up. Cassian had been riding his own horse, while Skye was the one Sabrina had been on. So how did he end up on the ground too? Did he actually help her?
But didn't he seriously hate the new Mrs. Bennett?
Sabrina slowly made her way toward Skye. As she got closer, the horse bristled, nostrils flaring, snorting sharply to warn her off.
"Skye," she said softly, extending her hand, eyes full of calm and warmth. "It's okay, I know you
