Christian turned his head, his gaze lingering on Annie's wind-flushed cheeks. A teasing warmth danced in his eyes.
Feigning ignorance, he asked, "Which part?"
Annie's cheeks burned even hotter. She glared at him and lowered her voice to a whisper. "You know… the part about having a baby."
Christian let out a low, rumbling laugh. "I just wanted to put Irene's mind at ease."
He paused, then took a step closer, his warm breath tickling the shell of her ear. He said, "Of course, if you're actually interested... I'm certainly not opposed to the idea."
His expression was far too serious, to the point Annie could no longer believe he was joking.
She swatted his arm lightly. "You're impossible."
