Chapter 199
Ethan kept rinsing the strawberries, his face as calm as ever.
"You can't fake something like that."
"Why not?" Celeste asked.
"No one else but you would dare cover my eyes from behind. On the battlefield, your back is only for your partner-someone you trust with your life."
Jokes had no place in life-or-death situations.
Celeste frowned.
"Not even Grace? She's your sister, after all."
Ethan didn't reply. He picked up the washed strawberries and walked out, leaving behind a simple, "Wash your hands, time to eat."
Watching his broad shoulders, Celeste figured maybe Grace really had never messed around with him like that. With a brother who was rarely home and always serious when he was, how close could a sister even get?
On the table was a bowl of noodles. Topped with julienned carrots, cucumbers, blanched greens, and bean sprouts, with a hearty portion of sauce in the center - classic Yannburgh-style.
Ethan's cooking could rival high-end chefs by now; Celeste had seen it too many times
