If you weren't someone close to Ethan, there was no way you'd be "disappointed" in his wife.
The female soldier standing in front of Celeste looked a few years older than her, probably around thirty. She had no makeup on, a healthy tan, wasn't tall, but her sharp brows gave her a fierce, no-nonsense vibe.
"I don't really get what you mean," Celeste frowned slightly, her gaze steady. "Are you saying I don't deserve to be Ethan's wife?"
"No one does-except Nora," the soldier cut in, her tone heavy as she said that name, and the disdain in her eyes toward Celeste became obvious. "If Nora were still around, you wouldn't have married the captain. No chance."
"Nora?" Celeste's expression shifted. "You're with Blue Eagle?"
Ethan hardly ever spoke about Blue Eagle, but Foster had mentioned it once-how Ethan's greatest accomplishments came from missions with that unit. The Blue Eagles were supposedly unbeatable. Still, she had no idea they included female soldiers.
