Sunny suddenly barked, and Micah looked up in response.
Heather's eyes met his.
In his amber-colored eyes, clear as a tranquil lake, there was a calm, gentle warmth. Heather's restless heart seemed to quiet with it.

"Okay." Micah nodded. "Do you play chess?"
Heather raised her brows lightly, answering with confidence, "You found yourself an opponent."
When she was young, she often watched her father play chess, and gradually developed a deep interest in the game. She had even won multiple youth tournaments.
Back then, a retired national chess master in Metrovale once wanted to take her on as a disciple, but her ambitions lay elsewhere.
Later, after her parents passed away, Devon never had the leisure or inclination to play with her. And so, she had never touched chess again.
