Claire's POV
The next morning, I woke up with Lucas curled against my side, his little hand clutching my shirt. I'd fallen asleep in the chair beside his crib, and somehow he'd ended up with me. Carefully, I scooped him up and headed downstairs.
The house was already bustling with activity. A housekeeper had cleaned the living room and smiled warmly when she saw us.
"Breakfast is all ready, miss," she said.
"Thanks," I replied, shifting Lucas in my arms as he began to stir.
When we entered the dining room, Lucius sat at the table in a crisp white shirt, newspaper in hand. Classic Lucius - already looking perfect at this ungodly hour. He didn't look up as I entered, and I didn't bother greeting him. I just took a seat on his left with Lucas in my arms.
"Dad! Dad!" Lucas suddenly squealed, squirming in my lap.
Lucius immediately set down his paper, his stern features softening into a smile. "Morning, little man."
"Ah! Ah!" Lucas reached toward him, nearly tumbling out of my lap.
