Chapter 59
Claire's POV
Time flies when you're growing a tiny baby. Three months into my pregnancy, and thankfully, I'd been spared the worst of morning sickness. My appetite, however, had other ideas.
"I swear this baby thinks it's feeding an army," I muttered, reaching for another piece of steak. Margaret just smiled and slid the garlic bread closer to me. My clothes were getting snugger by the day, but I couldn't bring myself to care much. Growing a baby required calories, right?
That evening, Margaret approached me with her phone in hand, her expression apologetic.
"Mrs. Watson, Alpha Lucius just messaged. He won't be home for dinner tonight. Something came up."
I frowned, fork freezing midway to my mouth. "Again?"
This had become our new normal over the past two weeks. Lucius would leave early, come home late, sometimes after midnight. The happy bubble we'd been living in since the resort was starting to burst.
