Howard suddenly hit the mute button while the TV in the hospital ward was showing the midday bulletin. He looked at me with a troubled, hesitant expression while holding his phone, the glow of the screen illuminating his anxious features.
"What's the matter?" I asked, a sudden dread gripping me.
