Chapter 21
Alejandro's pov
Before I did, the darkness struck. I thought about how close I was to receiving answers as I was leaving that meeting. Then everything turned black as a heavy hand slammed a cloth over my face.
As the van raced through the night, I could feel its engine roar. Inside my ropes, the twists and turns shook me loose. My head struck the chilly metal walls with a slam. I made an effort to think and stay awake.
*Camila must be aware of my existence. She needs to solve this.
When I opened my eyes, I saw a dim, unclean room with flickering light bulbs hanging from the ceiling and concrete walls. The ropes burned my ankles and wrists. I was stuck despite my best efforts to move.
I yelled, "Hey," in a raspy voice. "Where am I?"
No response. Nothing but quiet.
I resisted the escalating panic. Slow down. Consider. You assured her that you would be resilient. You must send a message.
The door opened with a creak. A tall, broad shadow with a hood over its face entered.
