"If Fiona were as hot-tempered as you, how would she possibly be my wife? Trust me, she's way more tolerant than you think. Even if she knew about us, she'd just tell you calmly to be my second wife. Don't believe me? Wanna bet? I'll call her right now."
"No! That's impossible! Fiona's always believed love should be pure. She'd never settle for less," Ariella cried out, panicked.
"So you really don't believe me? Fine, I'll prove it."
Lucian quickly flipped through his contacts, found the one labeled "Wifey," and tapped to call.
"No, stop! Please don't!" Ariella panicked, scrambling up and grabbing his hand-too late.
Fiona's cheerful voice came through on speaker: "Hi, honey!"
"I'm out..." Lucian deliberately trailed off, letting the sentence hang.
Ariella shook her head frantically, her expression begging him not to say another word. Her trembling fingers clung to his arm; her eyes teared up, pleading silently.
"You're out? Will you be back for dinner?" Fiona asked lightly.
