James' POV
When I returned home, I found that there was only one light on in the living room. My eyebrows were drawn together as I called out softly, "Catherine?"
The deafening silence answered me.

The boy stood upstairs and looked down at me. I looked up to meet his hostile gaze. It wasn't our first time doing so.
He withdrew his gaze from me, and I slowly went upstairs without a word. He was walking back to his room from mine.
I tried to open my mouth and say hello to him, but before I could, he closed the door extremely quickly.
The door was closed with a click, just an indication that I was not supposed to disturb him.
