Geoffrey, still on the rooftop with binoculars, snorted. "No way. The first great-grandkid I get to hold is gotta be Darius'!"
Darius was strong and full of energy, every bit as formidable as Geoffrey had been in his prime. It was no surprise he'd fathered six children in his day.
Lucinda wasn't having it. She huffed, "If Jaron has a child first, I get to pick any treasure from your study."
Geoffrey, confident he wouldn't lose, thumped his chest and agreed readily. "And what if I win?"
She thought it over seriously. "You've been pushing me to have a second child, haven't you? Fine. If you win, Timothy and I will give you a granddaughter."
