This was a necessary transfer of authority in parenting.
Many children didn't listen to their mothers, but they would listen to doctors or teachers. At times like this, it became strategically necessary for mothers to temporarily cede some parental authority to these external figures.
Sure enough, Penelope happily nodded at Giselle's words.
Giselle held Penelope and approached the middle-aged pediatrician, Kendrick Swanson.
Kendrick, stern and serious, asked, "What's the matter?"
Giselle patted Penelope gently. "Poppy, tell Dr. Swanson."
But when Penelope faced Kendrick, she mumbled, unable to speak clearly, looking a little nervous. Her pleading gaze fell on Giselle.
Giselle had no choice but to speak on her behalf. "Dr. Swanson, Poppy was well-behaved during her shot, and now that it's done, she's hungry. She wants ice cream, chicken nuggets, and chocolate pudding. Can we let her have them as a reward?"
After listening, Kendrick looked at Giselle with a hint of displeasur
