Serena looked around—no one seemed to notice her.
Driven by curiosity, she gritted her teeth, slipped off her heels, and tiptoed closer.
Gideon Smith and Chloe had stopped at the stairwell.
Afraid of getting spotted, Serena flattened herself against the wall, silently eavesdropping.
Gideon’s voice was teasing. "Miss Garland, why aren't you sweet-talking Mr. Quinn right now? You came all this way just to see me?"
Chloe snorted under her breath. "Can you shut up already? I told you—once it’s done, the money will hit your account without a cent missing."
Gideon smirked. "No rush. I’m sticking around for the show. Tomorrow’s headlines? 'Mr. Quinn caught spending the night with Miss Garland.'"
"Cut the crap," Chloe snapped. "You sure he drank the wine?"
"Of course,” Gideon said smugly, “I had a guy hand it to him. I saw with my own eyes. Relax, I’ve got it under control."
