In the nick of time, a strong palm pulled my arm violently, and my whole body was yanked by a force - I fell into a wide, warm embrace. The car brushed past me, narrowly missing me. My heart was beating wildly, and a cold sweat instantly drenched my back. An anxious voice came from above my head, “Sienna, are you okay?” This voice ...... is too familiar! I was stunned for a moment, looking up in disbelief, and what met my eyes was a deeply contoured, charismatic face. “Lance?” I was so surprised I could hardly believe my eyes, “Why are you here!” Lance, the man who had almost been my boss - yes, the owner of the prestigious jewelry company that I had turned down for Jaxon back then. He looked down to check my status and made sure I was safe and sound before releasing me, yet still holding my waist gently with his elbow. “My mother was visiting and bought the ring you made. I was impressed with the style of your work and came to take my chances.” He smiled faintly. I couldn't
