The car ride home is silent. I can feel emily's eyes on the side of my face, watching me, waiting for any kind of reaction after I caught her hugging a man that I do not know, a man that I do not trust in our lives. I say nothing, though, allowing the silence to speak for itself.
Is it petty of me to act like this? Is it petty of me to want her to keep a distance between her and other men in her life? Is it bad that I wish that she would let me in on the secrets of our life instead of keeping me out?
“Logan,” she whispers my name. It sends a chill down my spine. I don't look in her direction and instead of focus my eyes on the road. “Please, talk to me.”
What is there to say? How do I approach the situation in which I am the aggressor, the one person who is displeased with everything that she does?
“Jack and I are friends,” Emily’s voice trembles. Do I scare her? “He was there the day Derek died. He had information that was useful to me—”
